Workation

Team workation: 10 productive locations

3 September 2026

Hotel pool area with lounge chairs and sun umbrellas

Reading time: about 6 minutes.

The short version

  • A workation needs different things than an offsite. Desks, stable Wi-Fi and a place for calls matter more than the biggest conference room.
  • Always check two numbers: how many people can sleep there and how many can work in one room at the same time.
  • Reachable without a car: Lietzow Bay, Rügen Bay, Usedom Bay, Waren Bay, Rantum Bay and Dresden Bay.
  • Invoiced bookings range from around 283 to around 860 euros per person. The gap comes from the length of stay and the catering, hardly from the location.
  • Tourist tax, drinks, dinners outside the package, team activities and wellness are often charged separately.

A workation is not an offsite. At an offsite the team spends three days in one room working on one question. On a workation the normal working day carries on, just with a different window next to it. That shifts the selection criteria. Here are ten locations where it works.

Lietzow Bay on Rügen

A house right on the water with a shared kitchen, a barbecue area and a coliving feel. The conference room looks out over the lagoon, the coworking space is open around the clock, and there are phone booths for calls. SUP and kayak cost nothing extra.

  • Up to 40 people
  • Lietzow station a four-minute walk away, 3 to 3.5 hours from Berlin
  • 24/7 coworking access, phone booths, projector and whiteboards

Rügen Bay in Prora

100 metres to the sandy beach. Chalets up to 200 square metres, apartments for eight to ten people, plus a rooftop meeting room with a view of the sea. After work you can choose between the chalk cliffs in Jasmund National Park, the Prora treetop walk or a sailing trip to Cape Arkona.

  • Up to 60 people
  • Prora Nord station 500 metres away, 2 to 3.5 hours from Berlin or Hamburg
  • Rooftop meeting room with sea view, spa with indoor pool

Usedom Bay in Heringsdorf

The location with the most places to retreat to. A conservatory used as a coworking space, a terrace for sessions outdoors, six meeting rooms and phone booths. If a team sits in several calls at once, this is the place. Rooftop pool and sauna area for afterwards.

  • Up to 100 people
  • Seebad Heringsdorf station a ten-minute walk away
  • Six meeting rooms, conservatory as coworking space, phone booths

Ahrenshoop Bay

An artists' village behind the dunes, a five-minute walk to the beach. Coworking with high-speed internet and proper workstations, plus a terrace with a view of the Baltic Sea and the option to work in the garden. Bamboo bikes are available on site. For small teams who want peace and quiet, galleries instead of nightlife.

  • Up to 20 people
  • Ribnitz-Damgarten West station, then bus or taxi
  • Coworking with a terrace facing the sea, working in the garden possible

Rantum Bay on Sylt

The open space is three minutes from the accommodation, looks out over the Wadden Sea and is accessible around the clock. There are meeting rooms, private offices for focused work, phone booths, monitors and printers. Kitesurfing and wing foiling are a few minutes away. The workshop room holds ten people, the accommodation 50. That is exactly right for a workation, but not for an offsite with joint sessions of 15 or more.

  • Up to 50 people, workshop room for 10
  • Direct train to Westerland
  • Groups of nine or more send their request to the hotel directly

Waren Bay on Lake Müritz

The coworking space is on our boat in the marina and holds a maximum of ten people. The hotel has a meeting room for up to 30. If you are looking for a work setting that does not feel like a conference room, you will find it here. Müritz National Park starts right behind the harbour.

  • Up to 50 people, coworking on the boat for 10
  • Waren station a ten-minute walk away, around two hours from Berlin
  • Meeting room on land for up to 30 people

Schwerin Bay on Lake Schwerin

A resort right on the shore of Lake Schwerin, surrounded by forest and fields. You work in the coworking and community space in the hotel or outside in the garden, and for joint sessions there are seminar rooms with projector, screen and flipchart. After work, Vital am See offers its own wellness area with sauna and cryotherapy, and Schwerin Castle is close by.

  • Up to 30 people
  • Schwerin station ten kilometres away, parking right at the hotel
  • Coworking in the hotel, seminar rooms, design apartments with one or two bedrooms

Dresden is the option for teams who want to meet quickly without sacrificing a travel day. Coworking space in the hotel, ergonomic workstations, conference rooms, indoor pool and sauna. After work: a walk along the Elbe, a boat trip to Pillnitz Palace or Saxon Switzerland.

Frequently asked questions

Which workation locations can be reached without a car?

Lietzow Bay is a four-minute walk from the station, Usedom Bay and Waren Bay ten minutes each. Rügen Bay is 500 metres from Prora Nord station, Dresden Bay a tram ride plus a 300-metre walk. Rantum Bay can be reached by train to Westerland. Schwerin Bay is ten kilometres from Schwerin station, so you need a car or a transfer there.

What is the difference between a workation and an offsite?

On a workation the regular working day continues, just in a different place. You need desks, Wi-Fi and quiet spots for calls. An offsite, on the other hand, needs a room the whole team fits into. Rantum Bay makes the difference concrete: 50 beds, but a workshop room for ten people.

How long should a team workation last?

In the invoiced bookings, stays range from two to four nights. Two nights work when the journey is short, for example to Dresden or Lietzow. With a flight to Mallorca or Lake Garda, the journey would otherwise eat up too much of the stay.

What is usually not included in an offer?

Tourist tax, drinks outside the booked packages, dinner unless explicitly booked, team activities, excursions and wellness treatments. These items are usually paid on site or through the respective provider.
